Hi, I'm Zen Nguyen
AI Engineer & Computing Science Student
I build autonomous systems and full-stack applications at the intersection of AI and distributed computing. Passionate about RAG architectures, LLM-powered tools, and solving complex engineering problems from scratch.
About Me
Who I Am
I am a Computing Science student at Simon Fraser University, building at the intersection of AI engineering and distributed systems.
My recent work includes TitanSwarm — an autonomous AI Co-Pilot leveraging RAG architectures, FAISS vector search, and LLM orchestration to automate complex workflows. I thrive on designing systems with strict correctness guarantees, whether it's hallucination-free AI pipelines or Raft-based distributed databases.

Featured Projects
TitanSwarm
An autonomous, agentic AI Co-Pilot that automates end-to-end job application workflows. Built a RAG pipeline with FAISS vector search & strict hallucination guards for zero-invention resume tailoring. Engineered multi-source job scraping (LinkedIn/Indeed) with anti-bot evasion and model-cascade LLM fallback. Delivered ATS-optimized PDF generation via Jinja2 + Playwright and a modular Streamlit dispatch terminal with Kanban pipeline board.
Casino Run
A top-down 2D rogue-like game built in Java Swing & Maven for CMPT 276. Players navigate a fog-of-war casino map collecting money bags, interacting with slot machines, and avoiding broken glass traps — all while being hunted by BFS-driven security AI. Features a chip-shooting combat system, multiple UI screens (Main Menu, Instructions, Credits, Win/Death), and full audio. Collaborated in a team of 6 with Maven build automation, JUnit testing, and JaCoCo coverage.
SFU Course Tracker
Migrated from Azure to AWS for custom container orchestration. Designed a custom parser to tokenize nested boolean prerequisite strings into AST. Engineered an asyncio scraping pipeline with semaphore-based rate limiting (10x throughput). Implemented non-blocking background worker using APScheduler for seat availability alerts.
TitanStore
A distributed key-value database built from scratch in Go. Implements the Raft consensus algorithm for leader election, log replication, and crash recovery with a binary Write-Ahead Log, complete with atomic snapshots and a TCP client API.
Chain Reaction Game
Collaborated in a team of 4 under a strict 10-hour deadline for GDCxCSSS Game Jam. Implemented core mechanics including raycasting for lasers and area-of-effect explosions. Independently finalized game polish and bug fixes post-event.

Pho Goodness Restaurant
Orchestrated high-volume dining operations for 100+ guests per shift, prioritizing concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment to ensure 100% order accuracy. Demonstrated resilience and time management by balancing a 18+ hour work week alongside full-time engineering studies.
- •Ensured 100% order accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- •Reduced table turnover time by ~15% during peak hours through workflow streamlining
- •Collaborated with kitchen and front-of-house staff using clear verbal communication
